    Trouble with linux is ASDL modems often don't work with it and ISP software won't run on it, therefore, it is a bit unless if you can not connect to the net.

    You can get open office for Windows now (plus there are other word processing packages open source for windows now).

    Using this site it is no trouble to convert Open office to Word( for small documents anyway as large ones take ages to transfer).

    If it's a router then it will work with Linux - you just need standard networking protocols to comunicate between the computer and the router. UNIX was doing this long before windows did

    Open office will open MS Office files directly and it can save in MS Office format too

    It's a Smartbase MPC400 ... although we might be about to replace with with an HP we got off Freecycle! Just waiting for the powerlead we need to arrive from Ebay ...
