At risk of redundancy - maximum duration?

My team was placed "at risk from redundancy" last October as the company are centralising elsewhere. We've been told we may get made redundant in January, or perhaps March or maybe later.
Is there a maximum time employees can remain "at risk"? Just seems they can keep you at risk for years until they are ready to dispense with you.

Yes they can leave you at risk this long. There's no maximum time. But it's a good strategy to save redundancy money - anyone with any sense and the ability to do so will get out long before notice is served.0

At risk is a made up term and has no real meaning eery one is always at risk of loosing there employment.
The purpose of the initial "at risk" is really to say consultation over some changes which may result in redundancies has started.
So engage in consultation either as individuals or if the number effected is over 20 get reps elected or union involved and get them on the case, making equiries about what is happening what are thr proposals, what is being done to reduce the impact of any changes, negotiate relocation redundancy packages etc.
or every can sit back and wait for the company to make the next move.0
