    what type of files?

I can just copy word and excel files to mine and open them witout any conversion same with mp3's.

you mainly need to know what type of fies your phone supports there is nopoint converting your videos to mpeg and your phone wont play them most phones like 3gp.

There are loads of apps out there that will convert to 3gp search with google

  • Good evening all,
First time posting so first of all hello to everybody..and I hope you can help.

Rather than buy my son an ipod/mp4 player I have given him my old mobile (Sony ericcson k800) when I upgarded my own contract to a W850i. Both of these can play video clips ok provided (i think ) that they are are 3gp format.

I have managed to find a programme to convert u tube clips to 3gp which play fine but I would like to be able to put some videos on there for him.

I have several films on my pc that I have burned to the hard drive via a programme called "dvd shrink". Whilst I have always bene able to create back up discs of these via Roxio, I cant get them onto the phone...

When the disc is burned it creates audio & video folders. The audio is empty but the video folder typically contains four "BUP" files, four "IFO" files and a dozen or so MPEG files. I think I need to convert to 3gp but dont know how to go about it.. even if I found a programme I would not know which files I have toconvert - is at all or some ?? Not sure what they all do !

Sorry to waffle a bit but really hoping that somebody an help me out

    Regards

    Dave

    Hi Dave
Those files in the video_ts folder are:-
VOB = Video Object (these files are video)
IFO = Information (these files are instructions for the DVD player)
BUP = Backup (these files are copies of the IFO files)

You need some software that will allow you to inspect the folder and extract just the part you want as one video file.(There are several parts, such as main feature, extras, subtitles etc).
    Then convert it to 3gp.

    I've never tried this.

But if you google video_ts to 3gp it gives lots of software. Maybe someone else on the forum can recommend one.

  • Thanks for your help so far guys.. beginning to underdstand a bit more about it now. So as I far as I can see I need to find a programe that converts VIDEO to 3GP.... could any one suggest an easy (and free!) programme.

After searching on goggle etc I have tried various programmes - some are too complex and others are just trial versions. Recommendations / tips welcome !

    Thanks again
