Orlando/Florida- advice on gated communities

Hello, we are planning on going to florida next year at Easter time for 3 weeks. 1st time for us and we will be doing the normal parcs etc.
We have a boy who will be 5 and we are confused where to stay?
We both want a villa as we want to get away from the hustle of the parks, and we have decided on a gated community as it would be good for my boy to make friends rather than being isolated in a lonesome villa. BUT which is the best suited gated community?
I will hire a car so distance isnt an issue, but I would like a decent gym as myself and my partner like keeping fit.
Also would like to be close by local restaurants etc as we like being social.
Ive been looking on sites and I am just lost, anyone had any experiences or advice please?

A gated community doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a housing development with lots of American families. It just means that there is a security gatehouse to enter the area. This may be unmanned at times with access via a coded barrier.
Back however to your question - I'd go for Windsor Hills. However there are a lot of rental homes on the site so it may not provide you with a solution for an American friend for your son. That said normally lots of kids in the community pool and play ground - Brit's, Canadians and vacationing Americans.
Windsor Hill's is not however cheap. Demand for vacation houses here over the past few years seems to have pushed prices up.0
