Amazon - refusing to replace. Anything I can do?

I'll keep this brief:
Bought a pair of Timberland boots in December last year. Already, the upper has started to come away from the sole on one of the shoes, have hardly worn them so it's obviously a defect.
Now, Amazon are quite happy for me to return and for them to refund, which, normally, I'd be happy about.
Problem is, these boots are now ~£120 more expensive on their site than I paid for them.
Is there any thing I can say to them that will make them replace rather than refund? They're great boots!!!

....have you reached out to Timberland Direct? They may be able to offer you a resolution that suits - Amazon are not obliged to provide a replacement if the cost is disproportionate....which given their current price is quite clear.0

Why not get them repaired ?I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

Depending on the model Timberland will replace or repair for you, and its not some cobbler, its the real proper repair process.
I remember the first pair I bought, £135 about 12 years ago - I had three replacements in the first two years of ownership, the the final pair is still going strong

In a nut shell - no.
In fact they can ask you to prove the fault is inherent so it's quite good they are offering you a refund - particularly a 'full refund' since they can deduct an amount representing the use you have had.
Another way to look at you is you've had 3/4 yr worth of timberland boots - free0 -

Actually, no!
That's a good idea, didn't think of it because you read so many times that your contract is always with the retailer.
Thanks for all your suggestions folks :beer:0 -
your contract still is with the retailer, but see what the manufacturer says - I've had no issues with Timberland in the past before, theres simply no harm in asking...0
