Tyres for peugeot 206 - how much?

Hi

My car is in for MOT on friday. I know little about cars but the front right tyre looks too worn and maybe 1-2 of the others. Is there a way I can tell myself if they are legal and will need to be replaced? Also what is a reasonable price per tyre for buying and fitting?

Thanks you
I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

  • The 206 came with lots of different steel/alloys wheels and thus different tyre sizes.

Post up the tyre size (for example mine are 205/50/16) which is written on the sidewall of the tyre itself and we can help out with pricing and recommendations.

  • Go to a proper tyre indy (not a chain fast fit joint) tomorrow and get them checked, get them to quote you then have a quick shop around, no point sending it in only to fail on tyres.

Depending on specific size expect £38 upwards per tyre incl fitting and balance for budget stuff, a little higher, say £45/50 should see you shod with something at least pronounceable and probably top grade.

If you happen to have a GTi type or non standard alloys then the price might be a bit higher.
  • I paid about £50 a tyre including fitting for my old 206.

If three of the four are possibly duff, I'd be looking to replace all four -- and not with the cheapest tyres they have in the shop either.
