Replace bath with a shower - good idea?

I think it depends on how long you are staying in the house. IF you plan on moving in the next 5 years then I wouldn't bother. It is personal preference and if you intend on selling your house in the future you might limit the potential buyers.0

You can't slip in a shower ??
Most people want the option of either, nothing like a nice soak after a hard day, you have probs with your hips & knees which would benefit from laying in a bath & not putting more pressure on them by having to stand up all the time, while I apricate it may be difficult for you to get into a bath having both choices is still the better way to go imoI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

That would be my thinking. I hate showers, and no bath would be a turn off. But, it is the OP's house, and they need to think about themselves first, and any move second. Whenever I saw a house with a shower, I factored in to the price the cost of installing a bath instead, even if it was a new shower install.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

My mam did exactly the same thing!! I would prefer a shower over a bath, it would put me off buying a house if it just had a shower.0 -
A house without a bath wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but I'd expect it to be reflected in the price.0

We have a shower cubicle and no bath in our house. I love a shower as its handy but really miss a good soak in a bath.
When our cubicle needs replaced a bath will be going back in. lol0 -
While its easy to say " if a buyer wants a bath they can just change it"
Easier said than done with 3 kids running around during the week you move in. They know that, and so would just not even look at buying it
While removing it and putting a shower in might not make your house worth less, it will make it incredibly hard to sell.
If your willing to remove the bath now, and then put one back in before you try and sell, theres no problem!0 -
I would not consider buying a property without a bath - I don't even book hotel rooms without one.
It is the oasis of calm in a busy world.0 -
Many thanks to all for the advice and info - it was really helpful - and I think the final verdict is that we should keep a bath with shower over. Thanks again0
