Grrrrrr! New feedback system

I dont sell as many items as I used to, but since the new feedback score has come in, my stars are now at 16 (from today)

5/5 for item description
5/5 for communication
4.5 for despatch time
4.5/5 for postage & packing charges

I only sold 3 items on sunday, and posted immediately on Monday, prior to these buyers leaving me feedback, my score was 5/5 for all of them!

Its just so frustrating, when I advise I post 2nd class, and do keep the cost down (dont make any money on posting) and even more so the fact that I posted them the very next day after payment was received. And I can clearly see that the 2 recent buyers have scored me in this way!

I know its only a small thing, and other people have more genuine worries in their lives.

But there is no pleasing some folk is there!

How have you found this system, and do you believe it doesnt justify the service you actually provide!

Then when i had 61 votes they finally all changed to 5 stars! Some buyers are really hard to please - i send ALL of my items 1st class or payperdrop (DHL) so they get good service. And i also charge reasonable prices for my postage (never more than £1-1.50 over what i pay)

I wasn't happy, and left 2 stars for p&p for one item when they paid 44p to send, and i paid them £4! It also came in a bog standard carrier bag.

i paid £6.50 for p&p by sellers standard rate last week, thought it might be sent by special delivery but probably by recorded, and would definitely have thought 1st class

it arrived nearly a week later by 2nd class, the slowest and cheapest possible royal mail service, at a cost of just £1.39!!! so it was over a £5 charge for the re-used jiffy bag.

i queried it with the seller and she reluctantly gave me £2 back, so i still paid £4.50 for a £1.39 postage cost which i still think was too much. i will be leaving appropriate feedback.

Now that I can undersatnd! And that deserves to be scored/marked accordingly.

I just wish I could understand how the darned thing works - I started with 5 stars for everything, then dropped to 4.5 for communication. Then another 3 buyers left positive feedback, and I dropped to 4.5 on everything ! now another 7 have left positive feedback, and I have gone back up to 5 for delivery time, but stayed at 4.5 for everything else.

What on earth does this mean - obviously they were all happy with the despatch time, but have some left less than 5 for the other categories

The point being, if they are obviously less than 100% happy, they leave 4 out of 5, but if I don't know what I did wrong, how can I put it right next time ?

I think people are much less likely to give 5 Stars out of 5, instead of positive feedback alone. I think if you are averaging around 4 you are doing OK.

I still think its unfair this scoring system. and can sympathise with you all, I dont know whats worse, actually reading the feedback comments, or looking at the star rating! There is no point in it what so ever

pinkgem totally understand ref being over charged. I sold some toy's before christmas and the buyer brought all items I had listed. I estimated the cost of p&p charges. The buyer was happy and paid. However, when I posted them, they wasn't nearly the amount I charged her and I refunded her back all monies what she paid by what the actual postage cost! She was more than happy, and I new I could sleep that night without the worry & knowing Ive made a profit on posting!

Isn't it a shame we can't rate the buyers. How about the following categories...

Buyer's ability to read item description
Buyer's grip on reality (i.e. he thinks a flock of magic swans will deliver his item 2 hours after paying)
