    Yes.

    Experiences vary.

A quick search of this board will bring up various threads on business cards. Some swear by Vistaprint, some won't touch them with the proverbial bargepole, many other brands are available.

You might get cheaper online, but I have always preferred going to my local printer, to discus the options ..
    Wording
    Font style
    Font size
    Card quality
    Card colour
    Colour options.

If it is for a business .. A good quality card in my opinion is far more important than the cost alone.

    Good luck in your venture

As WLM21 alludes to, a lot depends on whether you require someone to design your business card or just print it. I've seen loads of identical looking business cards all using the same background image and template, presumably from Vistaprint. It gives a very poor impression.

Local printers are great to use their experience but to be honest for bulk printing I've had the bite the bullet and use online printers. Printing is all about economies of scale, having high output machines running day and night reduces the price to a fraction of what you pay on the high st. The last high st printing business in my town closed this month, seems everybody is doing the same as me. Very sad but they were just too expensive for bulk printing.

I've had both types of card. I used a printer for my first lot. To get better value, I ordered 1000 as the uni price reduces significantly. Then I had to change some details and the card were useless so I ended up throwing half of them out.

I then used vista print. I paid for the thicker card and uploaded my logo etc. they have come out really well and some colleagues don't believe they are by vista print.

I like the fact that you not have to order loads to get good value. They came in about 4 days. I'll be using them again and would recommend them.

I did not go for VistaPrint because of what I regard as stealth charges. What looks like a good price at the beginning of the checkout process becomes outrageous by the time you get to the end.

I used LeafletFrog for my business cards, paying around £40 for 500 cards. The advantage of this particular service was being able to send over my Photoshop .PSD files with crop marks, trim marks and bleed edges editable on their end. The process went smoothly and I got great results. I'll use them again without a doubt

VP - cheap for small runs if you use one of their endless promotional links, but very expensive for volume. Business cards are actually A7 (I think), not 'real' business-card size, so it does show. I use them, but not exclusively.

I've been thinking about getting some business cards printed too so this thread is really useful. I have had a friend design them for me, so it's just a case of getting them printed. Thanks for the recommendations!
