                    Hi,
Didn't end up sorting out any currency affairs when I went to Australia (was banking on a foreign credit card and it didn't accept for some). I'm here now and I tried to get a Travelex card but she said I wouldn't able to transfer money by bank transfer, i'd have to use my card - which defeats the point as I'll be charged a massive fee.
Anyone have any what the best tactic to take is? I could in theory get someone to put money in an accont back home, so that can be taken into account.
Thanks
Mike

Try and apply for a different foreign-spend credit card, or fee free bank account (N&P) and get someone to post it to you? Or the same with a pre-paid card.0

That's going to take at least 2-3 weeks isn't it?0

Have you tried opening a normal bank account in oz?
We did when we were there - it only took a couple of days I think.
Then you can have funds transferred possibly ?
 Hth

Thanks but unfortunately I cant as I'm on a short stay visa. I'm going to get a travelex card delivered at home, then just say it got lost I think0

Haven't you got your UK bank's hole-in-the-wall card with you? If so, it'll work in Aussie holes!
What kind of credit card have you got? I've never had one refused in Oz.Je suis Charlie.0

What massive fee is this?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0

Cash Passport Globe is the best value Prepaid card in combination with the quickest to obtain. Can have one in four hours.
 The others aren't great.
Why would posting take two to three weeks??

I assume they meant applying for another bank card will take 2-3 weeks. Which it most likely would, but I was under the assumption they would be in Australia long-term, which I guess they might not be.0
