Virgin holidays question?

Hopefully someone may be able to help with this question, Virgin holidays have been for a while updating there new booking system.
Currently you therfore cannot manage your booking online ie update details make payments etc
All you can get from Virgin is it should be done by the end of the year when all 2012 travel is complete.
A technical question then why cant Virgin run a new booking system alongside the old booking system, please be gentle

We are currently changing from an old system to a new one, from the 1st Novemeber 2012 everything will be on the new system so from this date it should be possible
