Intruder alarm service contracts

... do you have one? and how much do you pay for this?
Ours is 7 years old and annually serviced. The service is the problem, I have always resented paying the price asked for this but just now we have had a blah blah letter from ADT telling us that their costs are going up - again. They go up year on year, and they are now asking for at least £100 plus VAT.
This time I want to tell them to stick it. They are preying on fear - our fear of the alarm going off in the middle of the night or when we are on holiday etc etc. Personally I think we would be better of without the damn thing.
Does anyone else have such a contract - it is not a wireless or monitored system, and how much (and with whom?) do you pay for the servicing.

I had a monitored alarm from Richard Irvine and found that expensive for maintenance, twice a year. I decided to cancel the contract after I set it off by mistake, and guess what happened - absolutely nothing!
