You need to be patient and wait for female flowers to come - they are, as somebody said the ones with the bulbous bottom!! Yorkie is right, don't take off the male flowers until they have done the business. Lots of things are late this year due to the weather and cucurbits are short day plants ie they don't do anything until the days shorten. keep them well watered and don't feed them until a fruit is in evidence. As the season is getting late it is probably best to 'stop' the plant once two or three fruits have formed so that they can grow bigger.
My squashes have only just got going and I have 2 petit pain now despite them being in the ground for two months. Courgettes though are in great abundance.
Good luck.0 -
I have baby squashes :j
They are teeny tiny-maybe a couple of cm long-will they have enough time to grow? And do I need to worry about removing flowers?0
