Ok to pick pears now?
Hi
We've just moved into a new house and there's a pear tree in the front garden, it's absolutely full of pears and i'm wondering if they are ready to be picked? Some have already started falling off and I picked one and it came off very easily.
I'm worried i'll either pick them too early or leave them too late, I want to make good use of all these lovely pears!
If I pick one off and taste it, i'm not likely to get ill if it's not ripe am I??
Thanks
Hayley

If they are coming off the tree by themselves they are ready, do not tug them of the tree, if they come away easily they are ready
Most pears continue to ripen off the tree so you will have to watch them or they will go grainy
It is often said pears ripen at 2 o clock in the morning, That is they are hard as bricks when you go to bed, soft & grainy when you get up
The worst that could happen bu eating an unripe pear is a spot of belly ache, or a broken toothWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
