in IVA & DRO
Received letter today from a debt collection agency about a debt that was included in a DRO, am I correct in thinking this isn't going to go far? I knew there would be letters but it can't be collected?
I took the biscuit and called them up, let the girl go through her speel and mentioned the DRO to which the reply was uh oh, we'll speak with creditor blah blah, I've also sent copy of the papers I'd received from the IS and gave the order number while on phone
Just got me thinking the DRO isn't like a statue barred case when every so often different DCA'S will keep popping up, hope I'm reading to much into this, the lender did threaten DCA/third party action when they tried to tell me I wouldn't get a debt relief order, there is a long chain of paperwork/letters between ourselves but I didn't get to reply to their last letter because the order went through so quickly and to be honest didn't know what to say, I just thought that was that ?

You do sometimes get the occasional chase letter after a DRO. Same with bankruptcy, IVAs etc etc....
It can go to collectors for a variety of reasons. e.g. Incompetence from the creditor, debt collector trying their luck, debt sold on in a bulk lot of other debts and the collector not being told there is a DRO....
You have done the right thing so far.
In the end the debt is covered by the DRO, and there is nothing the collector can do about that. Threats are empty.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

My partner went BR about a year ago and is now discharged but one debt crops up with a different DCA every few months, we send 'em a strongly worded letter and a copy of the BRO every time and they just sell the debt on for another DCA to try it on. Next time we will be involving the ICO as clearly the information being passed on is inaccurate.0
