Im actually surprised they have allowed you to take holidays that you haven't accrued.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

This is incorrect. Most large companies payroll is automised nd this will be calculated by computer so will be deducted from your final pay
If you owe more than they can deduct then they may take steps to recover this from you - this is the debatable bit as it can get expensive for the company for a relatively small amount0 -
You have taken 20 paid days off. On a pro-rata basis, based on 21 holiday days (excl. B/H's) then you are entitled to 21/12=1.75 days/month. By October, you would have accrued 14 days so will have to pay back 6 days.
By Nov., you will have accrued 15.75 days, so will pay back 4.25 days.
I have always been told that Sainsburys require 1 months notice when you leave. Failure to give the required notice can give you just as much hassle.
If you are planning on leaving as you have another job lined-up, then you want to leave on good terms just in case you need a reference from them.
One of my colleagues says she'll be leaving the country, heading back to Ghana and plans to leave after pay day without giving notice. I'm quite sure Sainsburys doesn't do references so it doesn't matter whether you're a good employee or a bad one.
I'll set aside some money in case they ask for it. It's 4 weeks notice, not exactly a full calendar month by the way. Another colleague actually asked the store manager if it's ok to give 3 weeks notice only and the store manager said it's ok, but is it really 'ok'?0 -

Sainsburys do give references, albeit usually just a standard one stating dates of employment. However what they can do is refuse to give a reference, which a future employer may take as an implication of a negative reference.0 -

They do give references but as the person you mentioned is going back to ghana then they wont have any comeback.
Have you asked HR if 3 weeks notice is actually ok ?
There is a number for staff to use so not sure if you could annymously ask the question about notice.0 -

Anyway: the OP can use Patman's calculation of 1.75 days per month worked and deduct days already taken.Im actually surprised they have allowed you to take holidays that you haven't accrued.Signature removed for peace of mind0
