Am I the only one

I cannot do online meter readings any more. Perhaps they got fed up of me doing them monthly

Providing monthly meter readings is a bit excessive! Imagine the extra computing resources they would need, if every customer did that. Keep records for yourself but there is no need to supply them every month.

    Hi,

I give them monthly meter readings (last one in Feb but have just gone into my account and am able to enter my March ones). I do monthly readings so that I can keep a track of my utility usage costs (and can subsequently pick up any problems early).

Drop their CS an email, they normally reply within a couple of days.

With the online tariff, you can provide meter reading whenever you like and the system calculates you a bill there and then. I do mine monthly so that a) I can see my monthly usage and b) Scottish Power know my monthly usage and don't hike my DD up based on guesstimates. Compared to my other supplier who doesn't have an online meter reading facility i have to wait for their estimated bill (paper), then read my meter and ring them up with it. They then cancel the bill and send me another one (paper).

There is no paperwork with the online tariff so I can't see how this requires extra computing resources

i've just switched to sp from bg , the monthly readings will give you an accurate bill with no nasty surprises ,unlike bg's infrequent meter readings

expresso they don`t use clerks with a keyboard these days. The bills are provided instanataneously using their very powerful computers

I had an e mail from sp today and they had a glitch on the website. I have been given a new password so I shall be able to continue my monthly billing and keeping track of my outgoings

kattie, I'm simply pointing out that unless your usage varies considerably, it is just not necessary to provide monthly readings to your supplier. I have usage records covering several years and find that both gas and electricity usage is fairly constant from one year to the next. Providing that you are paying enough to cover your actual usage at todays prices, there are no nasty surprises!
