Fly to Italy and then coach tour

hi there has anyone got any recommendations of good companies for such a holiday for my parents. Think they would like a few days in Sorrento at some point and a bit of travelling around. They want to fly there and back. Cost under £1000 each for a week or 10 days this September or october. Have spent a few hours on google and come up with the same few operators but haven't looked at mainstream holiday companies. They don't want luxury but equally don't want to stuck in hotels in the middle of nowhere. have tried doing a search on here and tripadviser but nothing came up. there's one which is a possibility with Omega travel. has anyone heard of them? thanks for any advice

If you picked up a 'local' coach tour in Italy wouldn't everything be in Italian?

    Ie.
    "Just 5 mins here"
"Don't get off the bus the drivers just gone for a p*ss"
"Don't drink the water in the hotel"
"Look left for the best view in Italy"
    "Beware of falling Euros"

    Etc.

Could be difficult if they don't understand.

no I meant to fly to Italy rather than travel there by coach but then be met and escorted by an english tour guide. Don't want to get too continental!

Try Archers Direct, I havent looked in the catalogue but they do that sort of thing all over the world, we have been three times and had a great time on each. You will also find them on the internet. The ones we have been on are usually English speaking but not English guides

thanks shrimper1, i have looked on their website. I think I saw a review by someone complaining about them and being annoyed that they were in fact part of Cosmos but if you've been with them 3 times you must have been satisfied.

You might take a look at "Guardian Holiday Offers" - "Classical Italy" http://www.guardianholidayoffers.co.uk/holiday/2629/classical-italy

thanks to you both - i've looked at both those websites. I was just wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations. Will carry on looking and thanks
  • I would go again with Archers again without any hesitation, the only negative to some people is early morning starts and living out of a suit case. We like the sociability of them and as they are part of Cosmos/Globus you get several different nationalties as well as about 50/60% british. On there web site you can also see the optional excursions so you are pre warned about the cost.
