    Xmas Saver!
At my sisters wedding we went home and got changed in the evening as we all felt over dressed.
Before I get any comments, my sister didn't mind us all (7) leaving. There was enough evening guests for it not to notice, and we were only gone just over half an hour.

Obviously there's a bit of leeway depending on how 'casual' the couple are and what their venue is like but I would say most male guests at the evening dos seem to wear suit/smart pants with a shirt. Wouldn't say a tie and suit jacket were necessary but jeans (especially light ones) might be a little too casual.

I would think that pants no matter how smart wouldn't be a good idea! :rotfl::rotfl:

Definitately not jeans. It shouldn't make any difference that its only the evening as all the dau guests will still be there.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Whatever you feel comfortable in. I have been to many weddings and in the evening some men change into shorts.

I spent the evening of my wedding reception in my wife's aunt's dressing gown. I got chucked in the pool earlier in the afternoon.

It was the hottest day of that year and most male guests ended up wearing shorts after the church service was over.

Our cat attended our afternoon/evening do and he made no effort at all to wear anything smart. :p

It's difficult to be over-dressed, but easy to be under-dressed for such an occasion. I'd play safe and wear a suit and tie, you can always lose bits if you want to be more casual.

  • Thankyou for all the responses. In the end I played safe and wore trousers and shirt :-) there were however a lot of guests in jeans, shirt etc so I could have got away with it after all.
