Payplan have been great with me. They can cut your monthly payments down to whatever you can afford. So if you are paying £450 in monthly payments to your creditors, but you can only afford £200, this is the figure that will be divided up proportionately between your creditors. But bear in mind that it is not Payplan that are cutting the figure down - they are just negotiating for you. Effectively, you could negotiate directly with the creditors yourself. But the disadvantages of this is that you won't have the cushion of Payplan and you will have to pay each of your creditors directly (rather than making one payment). Payplan actively encourage you to overpay if you can, so don't worry about that.

I was like you at the start. It all sounded so big and scary, and as debt is still taboo all the terms and concepts are unfamiliar. After a few weeks of being on here and setting myself up with Payplan I feel much better. I don't care about the defaults and late payments charges because I know that if my interest is frozen, I will be able to pay everything off much quicker and get myself out of this mess sooner. I know that it won't affect my ability to get a mortgage (there are specialist brokers for that) and being debt free will change the quality of my life. So when I weigh everything up, I know I am making the right decision.

Just out of curiousity, who do all of you deal with at Payplan?

My main contact is Linda, and her and the rest of her team are brilliant. I've only ever had one problem person, and that was because they were dealing with an unusual enquiry. I also put it down to PMT, but luckily I've never spoken to her again!

  • My husband deals with Payplan, despite some very big faults, payments going missing in the system, not keeping creditors informed, after making a mini complaint, they have been really excellent.
