Opinions on Payplan!

I have just called Payplan and arranged for them to call me back. But I'm not sure if I'd be doing the right thing.

I'm so gutted I'm not able to get myself through this. But it's starting to get on top off me, because I'm not sleeping again and I can't even afford to buy me and Garreth new clothes. (I'm in more need than Garreth because all my clothes are 2 sizes too big, at least his fit him.)

In the past couple of weeks I've thought about everything to try and get out of the rutt I am in, honest, dishonest and downright depressing. But now I need to admit I need help.

How much can Payplan cut down my monthly payments because it's not allowing me any freedom? And what does everybody who uses them think of them?

  • Hi Beth

I'm in a similar situation and worrying about whether to use CCCS for a DMP, the feedback I have received from this website is that it is a good idea to talk to someone about the debt. (I only joined today but everyone has been fab)

Payplan will be able to tell you what you can afford to pay and any other options that are open to you - it is very scary talking about your debt and you do feel very emotional when going through stuff but it is worth it. Also I think even if you do talk to Payplan you're not under any obligation/pressure to make a decision. :j

I pay around £280 a month at the moment but I really would like it to be less. because it isn't leaving me with a lot.

Could we work it out so that I would be paying less.

  • I'm not sure if you can overpay but I think they will review whatever plan you agree on regularly, so if you can afford to pay more money a few months down the line they will send it on to the creditors.

Def ask the person you speak to at Payplan what options you've got - you might have more than you think!!

Payplan are fantastic. I have been with them for 18 months and they have helped me a lot. They dealt with all my creditors, got the interests frozen, reassured me when I got scary letters, etc...
My debt is going down slowly (it is rather large :o ) and I have gotten to the point where I don't think about it all the time.

Excellent! I would warn you that you may appear to be passed around various different people as you get set up, but once you're sorted they're a pleasure to deal with.

You need to remember that the idea of using Paplan/CCCS is to get your debts paid off, not to leave you with more money over!

you can overpay directly - if you earn some "overtime" you can amend your standing order to pay the extra - if you get "willed" some money you can either pay something off directly (payplan won't advise you too but it's possible.)
