Aaaargh! Spending a fortune on keyboards!!

This sounds completely trivial and stupid, but it is doing my head in.
My son must be really heavy handed on the computer, as he keeps rubbing off the most used letters within a really short space of time. I can type without looking at the keyboard, but son and husband cannot, so I have had to buy two new boards over the last six months, and now I am getting fed up with it.
I have tried ordering new letters, but as these were just ordinary stickers and not plastic or laminated they lasted all of three days before they too rubbed off.
I have tried coating with clear nail varnish, but it wears off too.
I thought about cutting squares of sellotape and sticking them over the keys but this would just be too sad really wouldn't it...I mean, how fiddly, and how long would that take me.
The ideal soulution would be some little clear square plastic stickers made for the job...but can I find any?
Any eureka ideas anyone? :j

I have had my computer keyboard for years and it is still perfectly legible.
Have you ever watched him to see what he is doing to it?
You can get good keyboards cheap from 7dayshop.com
Make him pay for the new ones!!0 -
If your son can rub off letters in 6 months, either he has very long fingernails, plays games too much, or you are buying really cheap keyboards. Touch typists with long fingernails are the only people I've seen rub off KB legends before.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Perhaps it's not your son but you! Have you got long nails?
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Well the first keyboard came with the computer, no idea how much it cost. The second was a Gateway at about a tenner. I can assure you, I would not put myself up to get laughed off a board with such a query if it was not a genuine problem. And I don't know you type, but usually it is done with the pads of the fingertips, not nails, so he is not scratching them off...they are being rubbed off. Anyway, he is a normal 17 year old with short nails, not a flaming taloned transvestite.0

So it's not just our keyboards then.
