Agree with Luci, there is even someone on the Vegas thread that regularly goes for about 7 weeks at a time :rotfl:
For a 2 centre, Hawaii could work (although as already said it's expensive and adds more distance). What about flying to LA and picking up a cruise down Mexico way? Some of the Vegas pools have 'fake' beaches - Rio, GVR, Mandalay Bay....so you could stay a bit longer and enjoy the beach in Vegas.
I'm too much of a Vegas fan to spend much time thinking about other places to split my holiday with.
This year we're flying to LA and driving to Vegas - flight was much cheaper and it's a wee adventure too. 0 -
Part of the reason of splitting the holiday is that OH wants to see "the strip" and thats THE reason she wants to do Vegas. I would prefer just to go away somewhere and chill. Hence the short trip/week stay option.
Hotel beach.......now that might work (although I would think the temptation of "whats outside" would be too much of a draw for OH). Will look at it.0 -

You can do anything in Vegas including chilling by the pool or the beach (at Mandalay bay),
Have you read the Vegas sticky thread0 -
Before booking the UK/Vegas arm of your trip I'd do a lot of research on LV and I'm 99% sure you'd find enough to do for 2 weeks. You could create a complete resort holiday
- chill out by the pool/"beach",
- luxury - good restaurants, spa treatments
sight-seeing - the Strip, the amazing hotels
shopping
a show
trips to Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam
you could hire a car for a couple of days
Check out some holiday brochures such as Virgin to see what sort of excursions they offer.
Alternatively:
1. something for which I'm saving hard, flying from Vegas to Seattle or Vancouver and joining an Alaskan cruise.
2. some years ago we flew to Boston for a few days and then drove down to Cape Cod for the beaches and mid-summer sun.0 -
If you want to combine the Vegas experience with a beach style holiday you could always look at Atlantic City.0

Crikey I am from them there parts and even I wouldn't recommend that itinerary to anyone:eek:If you want to combine the Vegas experience with a beach style holiday you could always look at Atlantic City. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
I did Las Vegas and San Diego on the same trip last year. San Diego is a lovely place. There are plenty of cheapish flights between the two. I used SouthWest as it was cheaper to get openjaw lnternational return without the internal US flight.0

Another vote for San Diego, just an hour's flight, great beaches, good weather, LV will be hot in September and you will enjoy the sea breezes in SD. Lots to do if you want to, direct flights with BA to Vegas and SD. Virgin is not what it is cracked up to be at all in my opinion but if you insist on flying from Manchester (there are no long haul flights from Liverpool) then Virgin is the only option. Frankly I would take any of the alternatives, American to Chicago was my last long haul flight from Manchester with connections to LV and SD. You should do Vegas last, its exhausting and although I have been there more than 10 times, I tend to agree that three nights is enough, unless you have the willpower not to gamble. The hotels weren't built on customers who walked away rich, it isn't called 'Lost Wages' for nothing0
