Not sure what to do anymore

Hello....

I stumbled across this website after spending ages searching through google for advice on how to cope and what to do when you completely run out of money.

I read through the discussions and saw that not only am I not alone in this situation but also that other people feel completely miserable when faced with this dilemma.

Every month I try to stay positive and think to myself maybe this month my pay will be better or something will happen to get me through. But the reality is that every month I am left suffering in silence because no one really understands that when you say you are broke you really mean it. Being broke is not having any credit, no one to turn to to borrow money, no way of knowing how you will eat that day, losing friends because you can't afford to meet up with them.

Reading this site made me realise I am not alone and that other people are thinking the same things day in day out.
I'm lucky that I do have a roof over my head. In the back of my mind I'm thinking 'for how long?' you know, how long before one of the final demands really means final demand?

This hit me hard recently when my auntie passed away and I was hating myself for being in this situation because I kept thinking if I wasn't in debt I would have been able to go and see her more often but I couldn't afford the travel costs.

I dont need money to make me happy but without it I am considerably sad. It would be nice to not constantly fear what is around the corner.

All I see is the world I am missing out on and how life is too short to feel this unhappy but I just don't know what to do anymore.

    Hi and welcome!
Sorry to hear how you are feeling and about your circumstances, you definitely are NOT alone, okay?

As for losing friends because you can't afford to meet up with them - that's really sad, but what kind of friends are they if they couldn't support you or help you in when you're in need?

You last line hit home for me..... :(

Hang in there, other people will advise you soon, okay?

    Hi :)

Your certainly not alone! Post up a Statement of Affairs (SOA) which is all in a thread at the top of this Debt Free Wanabee forum. People can then see your outgoings / debts and possibly makes suggestions on what you can cut down on, and area's where you could save money.

There are some VERY helpful and knowledgeable people on this forum. Stick around, its certainly worth it :)

Tell me about it, 3.30 awake, tried for an hour to get back to sleep, no chance.

OP, a statement of affairs would enable us to help you.

Dont think too badly about not having anyone to borrow from, thats a good thing, its a slippery slope when you cant afford to pay it back.

There's always a way so hang on in there.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

  • Little Bear,

I agree with Rochdale guy - A friend who isnt there when you need them isnt a friend - I can assure you that there are plenty of people who have been in the same situation or worse, and have managed to turn things around :T

PaSte your SOA, and im sure there will be people who can help you, but If youre anywhere near Herts, you can always come for dinner - youre not alone.
A stranger is just a friend you havent met yet

There is always a life that you are missing out on - if you're a millionaire then you are missing out on multi-millionaire - who are missing out on billionaires.

With the help of the experts on here (not me!!) they will soon find ways of getting you some space for a bit more fun ([STRIKE]even[/STRIKE] especially if its free).

And if the situation is really really bad - there are people here who can help you make the most of that - from the best way to get help and respite to ways of working around all of the situations under the sun (including some that will be worse than yours - however bad you are feeling)

Plenty more people will be along through the day - if you don't get some ideas that will make you feel better / save you money by the end of the today I would be staggered.

You do just need to keep sharing and talking people can't help you if they don't know owt about you :)
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

i can not offer any other advise that you have been given already. i just want to repeat you are NOT alone, we are there (or some have got through it.....proof it CAN be done! )
i am just at the very beginning of my long journey but the lovely people on here have given me the belief I TOO CAN DO IT :)

as for the 'not true friends' comments i just wanted to ask if you have told them? as i am in denial on that front i could not bare that embaresment just yet.....one smal step at a time!

    good luck and keep posting

    m xx
  • What nice messages to wake up to!

Thank you for your support. I am going to fill in a SOA now.

Yes maccymum - I opened up recently to my friends about my situation and some of them have been really supportive. One of the friends I lost was because her wedding was abroad and I told her I couldn't afford to go and she said well everyone else is paying by credit card why can't you.
I think when people haven't been in your situation they just don't know how difficult it is.

I have been reading through some money saving tips on here today and I will see how I get on with the SOA.

Thank you for responding, it means alot. x
