Bottled gas is more expensive per kWh than mains gas or electricity
Bottled gas heaters must only be used in well ventilated rooms which means the expensive heat is lost
Bottled gas heaters produce water vapour which can lead to condensation, mould etc.

I'm not really sure what the market for these appliances is any more. They just seem more expensive, messier and less safe than anything else.

I will have to be much smarter with how I use the heating this year
Including not having the heating on at all between April and October .... it's August, I can't BELIEVE you know how much the heating costs!

I used to have a big old draughty house.... I only had the radiator on in the room I was in and would have the heating on for a max of 3-4 hours in the depths of the coldest winters.

Wear comfy warm leggings and warm tops round the house... and have a snuggle blanket on the sofa.

    .

I am just getting prepared, so I can find a bargain while the rest of the world is still buying suncream.

I don't need the heating on apart from in winter but bearing in mind last year (the 6 week period I mentioned was mid jan to the end of feb) there was inches of snow on the ground and it was freezing.

Really the only cheap solution is to use free solid fuel. Obviously, it isn't portable and won't work out cheap if you haven't already got some means of burning it.

Mains gas is probably your best bet or, if you only want to heat the room you are in, an electric heater of some kind.

    Failing that, get knitting! :p
