  • You have enough to survive on until Thursday.

You wont starve although it will be a boring menu

Boil the pasta, rice or lentils and add some of the soups for flavour.

Add the salmon to some of the dishes.

Dry fry the onion and store it in the fridge add to...

Grate the carrot and store in the fridge add to...
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

    Kirsty,

Very, very kind. But unfortunately, no where near Wales :( Yes, you have to start using your imagination!! Glad your husband has a new job, hopefully things will start looking up!
  • aww shame, thanks for wishes re hubbys job, its been awful! I have been enjoying tesco or sainsburys tinned rice pudding, 12p/13p a tin, also found value mushy peas in tin for 4p in tesco. I know others have shown u can survive and what to make but as a side thought could you swop a service for food? Ask friends family if they want dogs walked, children minded, clothes ironed or mended in return for eggs/fruit/veg/a meal or the like? You may not be comfortable asking though I understand that, in that case ask for cash HAHAHA!!
Good Luck! Dont forget to go to the supermarkets and look for freebie stands! cheese/cake/deli stands in sains always have nibbles out, a tiny treat whilst u browse!

I would chop the onion and fry in a little oil, add the passata and some of the herbs, salt and pepper to season. Serve with the pasta; depending on how much passata you have this may stretch for two meals :)

Depending on the flavour of the chicken tonight jar, could you maybe cook the salmon in this and serve it with rice? Could add some of the peas and carrots to this as well :) again this should stretch to a couple of meals.

Soup can be bulked out with some of the red lentils and eaten with the bread rolls.

10,000 Posts I've been Money Tipped!
Years ago when I first left home at 17 and was surviving on next to nothing as suddenly having to pay rent took a huge chunk out of my earnings I lived for a week on custard as the mikman left milk daily and the only thing in the cupboard was a tin of Birds Eye custard powder.I nevr forgot that and when i got paid I started a smal stash of tinned bits which to this day I have always had a store cupboard of essentials to fall back onIt was years before I ever ate custard again though :):)
Once when the children were small and the mortgage rate had just hit 15% I can remember counting how many slices of bread were left in the loaf on a Wednesday, and payday was Friday :) Its amazing how little to can live on when you have to and you won't starve, even though you may think you might. When folk live on a handful of rice a day in the third world then a fiver would seem like a fortune to them

Ps. Blossomhill, syrup sponge sounds so so good right now!
Well it's good enough for David Beckham! I wish I could make you one

My problem when we were so short was that I didn't tell anyone, as I was ashamed - friends and family would have rallied round but I was too proud - so if you are heading for rock bottom, do please tell someone you can trust

Once my friends realised, they started buying BOGOF offers so they could say they didn't need the OF and offer it to us

Depending on where you live, could you not join up on the Milk&More website, they often have offers for new customers (and you don't pay straight away either!)
  • Go through pockets of winter coats, down the side of the settee, look for vouchers, etc. Milk and more sometimes have £10 codes for free shopping worth searching and also I believe they don't bill you until next month( can't get them around here, so not 100% on this)
  • Do you have anything you could sell, maybe on a Facebook selling page? Or if you have a cex near you you can get cash for DVDs and games etc?

Have you any family/friends you could visit for dinner?

Any clubcard vouchers you could spend?

Good luck, I'm sure you have had lots of great ideas for using the food you do have x
