Garmin nuvi 215w map update?

I inherited this satnav from my parents, who got it a few years ago, not sure how to update it. Plugged it into the PC expecting it to automatically do something, but it didn't... Is there a secret way to update the maps or am I doomed to have to buy a new up-to-date one?

Try putting garmin update in google.

No secret, you can go to the Garmin website and pay for either a one off update or a lifetime subscription. UK&I maps are around £35 for a one off, so not much cheaper than a new unit these days.

Garmin seem a bit slow with updates, the Hindhead Tunnel on the A3 has only just appeared on their updates and it's been open for over a year now.

Like most copyrighted stuff there are sites that share free updates but you will have to do your own research to find them.
