Tax Credits, really upset and lost!

Ok so some of you may know I have been working to get this right for ages and IQ has been helping me a great deal!
But I am now stuck yet again and I don't even trust the advice of some of the advisors I have spoken to today
I just don't know where I am at with this.
So I got my Final tax credit decision for 2011/2012
It says amounts still to be paid £0.00
In part 2 - Payments - this is what it says
Working Tax Credit £703.06
Child Tac Credit £3103.86
Total £3806.74
Payments already made by us £878.55
Amount of overpayment from earlier years already collected from payments made so far £234.41
Amount carried forward to another award period £2693.78
Amount due to you £0.00
There is then a note saying any potential payment that arose during the award period has been used to rediuce an overpayment.
Has the amount been used to reduce overpayments? Or something?
So I just spoke to this man and he says that I am being paid this amount in my monthly amounts during 2012/ 2013, but I don't think it's right as it's not last years entitlement + this years. And it's not been used to pay overpayments

Hi there
I am no expert in this subject at all, and am sure one of the helpful folks will be along soon to give some advice/info.
Even though Tax credits received the annual form with our details of the income 2011 to 2012, they also sent 2 award letters back that were provisional.
The one of those was for 2011 to 2012 and amount at £0.00.
I take this is because we are now in the new tax year and they now work on what it to be paid from 2012 to 2013.
Did you receive the letter with the dates for 2012 to 2013?
Maybe that amount carried over is now the new award your entitled to.
Hopefully someone will be along soon that know more of how this works, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks for your reply, I should have said.
Last year my income used to calculate during the award period was £26K, due to losses and so on it turned out to be £15K.
I was then expecting a large back payment for the difference, obviously this hasn't happened.
I don't think it's being paid this year, but I do think they are taking it off me to repay the alledge overpayment from previous years. But I'd just like them to tell me this and not tell me that it's being paid this year, it's clearly not as my payments are much too low.
Thanks I wish it was easier! :cool:0 -

Hiya
What I would do is write to them, ask them to send you a more detailed breakdown of how they calculated the award as from the year before and so on.
I know it can be very confusing, but sometimes by sending a letter can be easier than explaining over the phone.
Tell them you are confused on how they calculated the award and if they will kindly send you a clearer explanation in writing.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks for your reply, we have now confirmed that they have taken the missing amount to repay overpayments of previous years.
I don't like tax credits lol, but the situation continues, I have been given a lot of stick for this on another thread.
Anyway, thank you very much for your support!0 -
