Any way of discovering which Estate Agents sold a property?

I'm trying to find out why a house, where the solicitors agreed what they said was the best price, was resold two months later for almost £50,000 more. Alas it was a while ago (winter 2005 , but is there a way of finding out if the same agents resold the property, and when the second sale was agreed subject to contract?

Cheers in advance

Don't think there is any direct way that you are going to find out. You could try seeing if your local library keeps copies of old local papers and try going through all the property listings from around that time (or see if the local paper themselves keep copies).

Are you sure that the land registry figures are right - I guess they make mistakes once in a while...
  • I may be able to help as I work in an Estate Agent and can log into past records on various internet sites. If you PM the postcode I'll have a go. Style of house, and the selling prices would be helpful.

Cheers, but unfortunately I don't live in the area. I might try contacting the online newspaper to see if they have any archives though.
