It has to be said, even though I'm a married person with kids, that the policy of this and previous govts has been very much geared towards families. I get cash from the govt even though I'm on a good salary. The loss of the married persons allowance is the big exception - but of course childless married couples got it as well.

Once the kids leave school the govt. assistance evaporates pretty quickly though. And young people (16-25) don't do very well in terms of benefits or tax credits, unless they start a family themselves, and now have to fund their own college education. A single young person on the dole or on a low part-time wage has to exist on £45 a week after rent and council tax. The cost of a ticket to a west end show!

single people should get taxed less, not married couples, if your living together and married its easier on the money as you can split it between you, and who said you had to have kids? it was your choice, it aint my choice i live alone, so why should i paid more.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of the state helping people to bring up children, after all ther going to be paying my pension/being my doctor/wiping my bum in my incontanant dotage....

Erm I hate to say it, but unless you have very few assets indeed, they won't be paying for this at all.

You will. And it really costs a shedload of money.

Many people end up with no house at the end.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
