Ironbridge and other Shropshire Towns

Hello

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit more about Ironbridge - I am looking to take my mum and our dog somewhere at the weekend and wondered if Ironbridge has a town centre or is it just museums?

Are you allowed to take a dog on the park and ride service?

Basically, we want to browse round some independent shops and then go to a cafe for a bite to eat.

I have been to Shrewsbury, Nantwich, Oswestry, Bridgnorth so was looking for similar places to those.

I had looked at going to Market Drayton but saw an article saying that most of the shops in the town had closed down.:(

So, I just want to find some places round this neck of the woods that you can spend at least if couple of hours walking around.

thanks.

Ironbridge itself is in a small, quite nice riverside town with a lovely cafe, several pubs and some nice independent shops. But it's not on a par size wise with Chester or Shrewsbury, it's basically one street alongside the river.
The bridge is the main attraction there, along with the museum of the gorge which is a really good place to get the whole history of the gorge and the iron industry. It is one of 10 different museums in the area, the best of which is easily the Victorian one that buglawton mentions. But that isn't walking distance from Ironbridge itself. I would guess there's a bus servcie but we always drive. It's called Blists Hill and you could easily spend a full day there.
You can buy a passport to get entry into all of them that's valid for a year
  • Ironbridge is much smaller than Shrewsbury and the other towns you mentioned but it is very pretty and there are lots of places to eat and some great independent shops and a nice stroll along the river with the dog. You won't be disappointed!

ETA: Just noticed you were planning on going this weekend - did you go? Did you enjoy it? x
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D
