Finding a rented property with a garage

We're looking for a property to rent in Colchester, Essex and our only requirements are it has to be under £700pcm and it needs to have a garage.
I've been trawling through property sites such as Right Move and Find a Property looking through completely unsuitable places because these sites don't seem to let you filter by properties with a garage (parking is the only filter and, although handy, just doesn't meet our needs).

So does anyone know of a site that DOES let you select garage as a filter option?

Can you rent a garage separately?

Lockups near us are around £10 a week privately, or £25 for a council owned one.

We could if we really had to. It's just convenience to have one with the property.
I have found a couple of places, and we've had some viewings, but I'm just trying to make our search easier to be honest.

The garage isn't even specifically for me, it's my partners requirement for his precious car! I'm just the one going round in circles doing the house hunting :eek:

Agents round this way told me that even off road parking goes to 2-beds before 1-beds and studios... as I was looking for a studio with ORP I was !!!! out of luck.

A garage...... tis truly an item of dreams these days.... most modern houses don't even provide them, preferring that annoying and useless 'allocated parking space'.

I find that agents don't put any details/photos onto places to rent.... nor any measurements or anything at all.... - all they tell you is there's a place to rent at £X. ... so to even text search garage would be a shot in the dark with most.

I think in this sense we're quite lucky as a lot of Colchester is old and so are the houses still.
Having said that though I think he may have to accept the fact that he'll have to rent a separate garage or stay at his mums forever if we don't find something soonish.

Of all the properties I looked at to rent, this was the only one with a garage (not for a car but for a collection of bikes, garden tools etc). And of course it was the most expensive!

I just thought I'd update to say we found a property, with a garage, and we're hoping to move in 3 weeks! :j :j
