Hi there,
I've recently inherited £10,000. I'm looking for a low risk place to invest this. Instant access is not needed.
I was thinking about NSI's Index-linked Savings Certificates: -

Does anybody know if this would be a good idea?
Cheers.

They are certainly safe and give you protection against inflation, but only currently give a competitive return to higher rate tax payers.
Others can do better elsewhere. £10,000 in a reputable bank or building society should give a better return and be almost as safe. Plenty of suggestions from Martin on the main site - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0
