Horrible Houseprice Crashers mock Mumsnetters

There are plenty of house purchase systems around that are simpler than the English or Scottish systems, and fairer to both parties. I understand (but don't personally know) that Sweden has a very straightforward system, and I do know that South Africa is extremely simple, and not the stressful arrangement that can happen here. I didn't know the terms 'gazumping' and 'gazundering' until I returned to the UK.
I'm sure that an easy alternative system could be found which would be less stressful and lead to fewer chains breaking down etc.0 -
What seems even better is the seller is now instructing another buyer to get their mortgage together.
So after all this hoohah of boohoo it's not fair, insult, wish hate, insult.....they have decided to string along a perspective buyer and get him rushing so they can decide between the buyers.
It's one of those "go you" situations!
Last time I saw the claws out like this, with such language used, it was a documentary on a womens prison. Not only should they leave skiddies in the loo, dog mess in the grass...but they shoudl now leave prawns in the attic! They make our discussions on here look incredibly tame!

I've just realised that these mummies come from an alternate universe to what I thought.

No, it wasn't that, though, was it. It was the fact that 2 days before exchange the purchaser demanded £17,000 reduction which was partly for a damp course (which their solicitor had not passed on to them), and the fact that altering some outhouses was due to cost more than they'd planned.
The house had already been reduced by £40,000.
Alternatively, it was because the purchaser got greedy and thought they could blackmail the vendor at the last moment.
I'm now following the thread and I don't really think that the 'prawns' was really serious, although hard to know on an internet site. The OP went on the thread for support, and has received it.
She needs to have the second buyer moving quickly otherwise she will lose the house she wants to buy (thus upsetting everyone in the chain), and the children may not get into the school they are booked to start in early September.
Having his/their mortgage in place will help the second buyer with any other house purchase as well. Also, as I understand it, the second buyer would be buying at the current offer price and not the re-negotiated offer (£3,500), so they would have a keen buyer who has not messed them around, but he would have to move about very quickly to get the house. The second buyer will know what the situation is, so if they want to proceed with mortgage approval, so be it.
I'm also shocked at the language and they do seem - on the face of it - to be a vile bunch of people, but she has my sympathy.0
