NCB Question and Moving Insurance Mid Term

Hi There,
This is a long story but will try and keep it short if anyone can advise
My NCB of 5 years was due to expire in Feb 2012 as i had not been insured for 2 years on a policy. So in Jan 2012 i decided to get a new car so i could keep my 5 years NCB before they expired. I took out a fully comp insurance policy with Allianz who took on my 5 years NCB from my old insurance company from two years back.
My wife is taking her driving test soon so i phoned Allianz to get a quote to add my wife onto the policy as a learner and a new driver based on if she was to pass her test just so i can work out how much i wlll be paying. They told me they do not insure drivers under 27 which my wife is and they have offered that i can cancel my policy which is 8 months in at no charge.
They said the follwoing on an email they sent ' Regrading the No Claims Discount proof, we will only be able to release the same amount of years that we receieved from your previous insurers which was 5 years as you have not been insured the whole year with us. When the policy is cancelled we will be able to release this proof and will take between 7-10 working days to get to yourself.
My main concern is they say they will only release my 5 years NCB which i got from my previous insurers. Which means wont this be 2 years and 8 months from my NCB as i have not done a full year with Allianz yet or will they just state that i have 5 years no claims which carried over to them as i thought NCB only last for 2 years if not used on another policy. Will using them for part the year 8 months class as a new start.
I dont want to move insurance and find out that they cannot accept my NCB as the new insurance company if i move might class only being part term with Allianz as not being part of my NCB.

What they mean is they wont be able to give you an NCD of 5.75 years - ie you lose the part year and they will just issue you with a new proof of NCD for 5 years which most insurer will consider valid for 2 years from the date of them issuing it.0

Thanks,
So when you say they will re issue 5 years NCB it wont count from when i when i had my 5 NCB 2 years back as i have already started a new policy this year which re starts the 2 years again. is that correct?
So they count as me having a new policy which re activated the 2 years limit again.
Just dont want to be left without no NCB.
So i should be ok to change insurance policy without the worry of lossing all my no claims and also without worrying about my NCB not being valid0 -
You came with 5 years and you go with 5 years. Unless you complete another FULL year with no claims.
They should supply you with a letter stating your no claims which should be good for another 2 years now.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Could it be worth you taking out a temporary policy somewhere else for your partner to ensure you incur 1 more year NCD0
