New ASDA rip off

  • I did send an email to customer services to complain.
When I returned home yesterday there was a phone message - she told me the cheese topping is free and that it is NOT one of the 4 toppings. She apologised for their mistake and told me they would be contacting the store to find out how it happened and left me a number so I could ring to obtain a refund.
I feel sorry for all those who did not complain and just accepted the overcharge or RIP-OFF as it evidently was.
I wonder how long it would have taken for them to have realised had no one complained!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've stopped buying the pizzas from the big Milton Keynes store because the staff who work on the counter are so slow, it takes about 15-20 mins to get two pizzas topped!

Good for you and well done for persisting! I agree they did seem to be trying to rip you off. I think that if we paid some of the above inflation increases that some supermarkets assume we won't notice the we are being ripped off.

I don't often eat pizza (just when I have children coming to eat) but Dr Oetker Ristorante pizzas are usually about 2 for £3 in Farmfoods and I think I may have seen them in Iceland at a similar price.
  • I rang the freephone number to ASDA customer services, last night and had a nice chat to the guy. He is going to send me £10 for my trouble. Next time I go to the deli counter for a pizza, I hope I get the same girl who served me last time and told me the cheese counted as a topping, I would be interested as to who mis-guided her, could it have been a managerial "try-on"? If we do not complain, then it is our own fault that some price rises can get by!!!

I have just read this post. I work on Saturdays on the pizza counter. I never knew of any changes so glad to see that the cheese is still included. We have changed our system to Pre order by completing a form, and true it can take 15 mins but only because we have 10 in the queue. It saves the customer having to queue up. Some grumpy people who only shop for 2 items don't like it, but the majority do. I do hope u still get ur pizzas as they are by far well topped compared to ready made pizzas.

When I say it takes 15 minutes for two pizzas at MK, I mean it actually takes 15 mins from when we reach the counter - i.e our turn takes 15 mins! Ridiculously slow and no I don't shop for 2 items, I have a family of 8 to feed lol and my dp also works for Asda... However the pre order system sounds great so might give that a try if it's reached our store yet.

It does work well now that the regulars know about it. It took a bit of educating for a few weeks but now the regulars love it. They come fill out a form and come back after they have finished their shopping and pick up the finished pizza. We tend to try and give them an estimate of the time depending how many orders we have.

I do like Asda's pizzas, and even at £3.50 they're still waaaay better value than takeaway ones. We make our own a lot now and the single best thing which takes home made ones to another level is a pizza stone. I wouldn't be without mine now.
