Journey to the bottom of the debt pile

  • After a few days of feeling sorry for myself I'm back with renewed vigour and determined to keep going.

The second electrician confirmed the amount of work needed to make right the electrics and put in a new board, also had to phone electric company to put in an isolator switch and update the incoming supply. That's being done on 25th so a couple of weeks until things are back to normal, until then I have a boiler plugged in to another supply but no washing machine or sockets working in one half of the kitchen.

So at the very least it will cost £500 but the new board may bring up so other faults in the house, I'm expecting there to be so will wait until work has been done before we can allocate any remaining money from Nan to debt. We can't carry on decorating until after it's finished anyway as the floorboards need to come up upstairs.

In good news the last loan payment has gone out so that's a little weight off our shoulders - :j

I'm off with the kids this week so we are going to sort the house out starting with my dd room, going through all her things and getting ready for decorating. Will sell as much as we can and donate the rest.

Also had a nice email today to say that I'm getting a free month of energy this month so I'll transfer that payment to debt when the time comes.

We will get sorted this year and start 2014 with a clean slate and start saving to move house!

Short post - my brother-in-law has won a million on the lottery, he is the most nasty, parasitic drain on society who has never done a hard days work in his life, has scrounged off his parents, been in and out of prison, has a vile girlfriend, neglected his daughter for 18 years, attacked my sister when they were a couple and has not contributed to the world in any positive way whatsoever!

I hope he sorts the parents out, that's all we can hope for!

In our world, the new isolator switch is in, my car needed more repairs and things just plod on as usual :-)

It's slow progress but at least I'm can still make regular payments to the credit cards, we're still waiting for the money from Nan so nothing much has changed hopefully not too much longer!

Hubby is getting a bonus from work in next month's pay packet so if that comes before the other funds then we will use this to pay for the electrics to be done, getting peed of with going to mum's/launderette with the washing it's a pain fitting that it to an already tight schedule.

I really need to start attacking the debt, it's April already and would have liked to be in a better position by now!

Yay a positive post for a change!

Hubby gets paid his bonus next week so have called the electrician to arrange to do the work in the kitchen etc, can't wait to have things back to normal in there then we can look at getting the tiles laid in the bathroom and actually finish the room. :j

Second positive news, money from nan was held up by Government checks on the estate but these have all been completed and the solicitor is in the process of sorting out all the details, so should have the money in our account very soon and will pay off the overdraft.

The next couple of weeks will be the restart of our plans, and bonus being my birthday next week so have budgetted for a meal out with hubby (no kids) which will be lovely.

Here's to more debt busting on overdrive. :)

    Good morning,

Today is a good day and despite being poorly with a bad throat and cold I'm not going to get me down due to the following reasons:

    * It's my birthday and have had some lovely presents and some vouchers to buy some new clothes!

    * The money from Nan went into the account yesterday so overdraft is clear :j

    * Sat down with hubby last night to do proper budget and he is so much more on board and realises how much we have to pay out for.

    * Hubby gets his bonus tomorrow so will have the money for the electrics which is booked for 15/16th May :T

    * Had an extra 50 Sbucks today as it's my birthday (did I mention that).

So debt busting back on track, we realise how lucky we are to have a break like this. Plans for the next few weeks:

    * Get payment break for mortgage - I know this is not a great thing to do but as we're not staying in this house I want to use the £620 payment to pay off most of the other overdraft so that the bills account can just run nicely. :o

    * Do a signature in a min to identify the next debt to be paid off.

    * Finish last assignment for uni so I can relax a bit over summer!

    * Phone B-lays to sort out overdraft as no longer needed.

Phew - let's get to work!

Well yesterday can be described as the most interesting birthday ever, started with a trip to the hospital to take my mum for an operation on her arm so drop her and dad there.

Home for a bit with my daughter who wasn't feeling well either.

Spent almost an hour on web chat with 2 Sky reps who couldn't understand why I couldn't log in to my account as my email address was linked to an old one and wouldn't take it. Far too complicated for them to sort and ridiculous conversation. I've copied the transcript to send a complaints letter!

Back to pick up my folks after lunch and then to two appointments for work, one lad who had done 3 questions of the many I had sent and the other who sent me a text after I had waited for him to say he wasn't coming!

Early to bed after dinner and that was that - yay!

Never mind, I had some lovely presents including a champagne tea at a posh hotel from my best friend and 20p from my kids.

    Plans for today:

    * Off sick as still feeling ropey.
    * Sort out my storage box for bills as getting a bit messy, need to start looking for car ins quotes again.
    * letter of complaint
    * tidy the house, getting very messy!

A very happy bunny this evening, I got got some vouchers from N*xt for my birthday last week but couldn't find anything I liked today so spent it on some gorgeous lantern lights for the kids, put my son's up and he has gone to bed with no fuss for the first time in his 4 little years!

Paid this month's credit card bill for the card listed below, I don't pay the minimum but try to pay £50 plus the odd pounds/pence nearest to it so current balance before next interest is £1200.

Got a holiday brochure through for some Euro camps today, going to save MR T vouchers until we have enough to pay for a holiday to Venice next August, it will be the first summer holiday abroad with the kids so very motivated and excited.

Having to finish my second job at the end of the month as have so much to do with my full-time job, coaching, kids and having a life. The money has been great but need to focus on all these other things plus the next year on my degree course!

Need to crack on with some surveys to boost the debt repayments.

Last week the electrics were done so I finally have my washing machine back working on overload to catch up a bit, nice and sunny today so have two loads out on the line and another due to finish soon.

Electrcian was lovely, he's one of the dads from school and I know his daughter so chatting about sports most of the two days he was here, he also changed the light fitting in my daughter's room and will be doing my son's next week. Came in under budget at £480, the only thing that isn't working is the dishwasher but when I pulled it out the connection box is all burnt out so will need him to sort.

With that work completed we can get some quotes to get the bathroom floor laid and finally finish a room, I'm off for half term next week so can start getting daughter's ceiling and skirting boards painted then order window. We have all the paint so no cost for this.

Car is back in the garage again tomorrow as cable for bonnet release is broken so needs repairing especially as the MOT is due next month, hoping it doesn't cost a fortune.

I have sold a few bits and pieces recently and exchanged some SB for paypal funds so little drips and drabs going on the credit card, will transfer child benefit when paid next week.

Now my course has finished for the summer and stopping my second job I'll have more time to focus on the debt, kids, house, hubby and me.

Ooh and some exciting things happening towards the end of the year, best friend getting married on 11th September, going back to my home town in August, and brother phoned today to say he'd got us an early xmas prezzie to see Placebo at Brixton Academy in December :T

Phew let the good things continue for a little while longer x
