OS Daily Friday 17th August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Heavy rain here first thing, bit gloomy now, hope it brightens up a bit, off to work for me, but finish early so not too bad.

Plasterers did a fantastic job yesterday :T we have the dehumidifier on to help dry it out, hopefully we can get the celling painted tomorrow, and then on with the walls :T

Dinner tonight will be meatballs with pasta, dd can cook as its her day off today.

Loved the delivery from ocado last night, I wont be doing it often as its that much more expensive, will only do it when I have a voucher, but the quality and service are second to none :T

Sistercas well done to your dd on her results, off to uni now eek

Well done to all others too xxxx

Molly I meant to say, I really enjoyed reading your account of the Amish midwife xxxx

Have good days all xx

  • Good morning redruby and to all who cross/follow,
Very dull here today. It has been raining but has stopped for now, although the sky looks full of it.
Washing will go on the airer today. Have got to get the ironing finished today. Have been putting it off because of my back but it feels alot better today.
Going to take jasper for a walk. Hubby has been taking him when he gets home from work. He is used to going at least twice a day though.
My Mum and Dad are going on holiday today. They are going to Spain for 10 days. I worry about them when they go away, i never used to. The break will do them good.
Tea tonight is baked liver and veg for myself and hubby and the girls are having cottage pie and veg. They can't stand liver.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning everyone.

Rubbish sleep, DS had nose bleed around 10pm and it wouldn't stop, we had a power cut for over 8 hours so at 3 am I was checking on DS and mithering about the food defrosting in the freezer :o
    Living on coffee today.

Not much OS (is there ever :o:rotfl:) just the usual day to day plod.

Tea.....no idea as H is working very late so may just eat with the kids.

RR sounds like room is coming on a treat :)

Hugs and spoons all round xx

Hubby's been dropped at work with his pack up, fish fed & crops harvested (2 cucumber, a marrow, loads of tomatoes, lettuce, chillies & 2 red peppers). Anyone have a recipe for marrow curry?
I hope everyone got the results they wanted & if not, as others have said don't panic, not one of my 4 children went to uni & they all earn at least £40k.
Plans today include trying to get the spare room ready for SS visit & tidying the study.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone,

Bargainbird I am assuming that it is the swimming and maccy Ds that is the treat, not the cleaning!:D

Judi that is good news about your son.

    Taplady what are you reading?

FS hope that your mum and dad have a good holiday.

Off to visit my mum and dad today with all the children. We usually go to stay for a few days in the summer holidays but with year my mum has a broken leg so we are only going on a day trip.
The children are all really excited to see them.

My A level pupils did well yesterday, only a few have to rethink their plans. GCSEs next week, fingers crossed for DS!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Gry this morning, but we are told sun this afternoon. Have Friends daughter and DGD today. SIL gone to his first interview this morning, second one this afternoon.
DD dislocated and cracked her toe last night. She went to work this morning, but has just phoned and said she has been sent home, she can't walk properly:rotfl:That girl is as accident prone as I was when I was small!

Dinner is a recipe with pollack and roasted vegtables.

    Morning all:j:j

    Rainy here this morning.

Everyone has been fed and watered here. The Twins just need to get dressed.

No work for my wife today, I'm not sure what the four of us will be doing yet. Looks like its going to rain most of the day so that limits us some what.

Lunch today will be sandwich's and salad for the four of us. Not sure about dinner tonight.

    Have a great day all,

    Enjoy :j:j
