            As much as I'm all for mothers rights, breastfeeding does not prevent a mother fom working. The only thing that prevents a mother from working is the law in that 2 weeks immediately following birth (or 4 weeks in manual trade) must be taken. Other than that everything becomes choice. The equalities act protects the rights of working mothers who wish to continue breastfeeding while working. If my young child depended on it and my partner was highly likely to be sanctioned on benefits then I'd hav my big girl knickers on and be searching for work too.
 And yes, I'm a mum to a young un with another on the way. I understand th complexities behind breastfeeding but I also know its a choice that's accommodatable in the work place.Data protection is there for you, not for companies to hide behind0

 You may as well face up to it Sam - it's another OP who only wants to hear how hard done to he is and how everything that he wants to be the case is the case. "Constructive advice" only consists of telling the OP things they want to hear, not telling them the truth or facts.0

 I wasn't the first suspended so I doubt I will be the first to get the disciplinary (although one has already quit). I am actually hoping to see how others disciplinary hearings go first. If they get sacked or not. There are talks of even more people being suspended and there are some new hires as well. So I don't imagine this will end soon. But in the mean time I (and others) am suspended with pay. I am not taking this lightly at all. Hence why I made this thread seeking advice. I just want to do the best given the bad situation.
 As you have been told, you will not receive JSA if you hand in your notice voluntarily. Neither will you receive JSA if you are summarily dismissed by your employer. The only thing you can do if you are dismissed is to appeal against the dismissal - on the grounds that you were only following "custom & practice" on the shop floor - but it would be extremely unlikely that your employers would take any notice of this, and you could acknowledge that fact, but ask them at that stage to remove the "dismissal" from your records and to accept your resignation instead, so that dishonesty did not appear on your employment record. They might agree to this.

            People do get JSA when they have been dismissed.
 I wish people would stop telling people that they wont get it if their sacked because this isnt always the case.
 The DWP look at why you were sacked and then decide.0

            this attitude you have , if you use that at work when questioned about your behaviour , you surely will get sacked regardless of wether or not you were told you could take stuff.
 BUT you signed two documents saying you wouldnt so why you ignored them is anyones business .
 i feel for you i really do because you will find it tough to get another job in retail with gross miscondiuct for theft on your record
