Help with contribution based jobseekers stopping

Hi
I'm wondering if anyone can help me, my husband lost his job in february and has claimed contribution based jobseekers since then. He has now had a letter saying this will be stopping as the six months are up, he's applied for numerous jobs every week and only got invited for 1 interview so far and nothing came of that.
They have said in the letter that he isn't entitled to income based as I work over 24 hrs however since he first made the claim I now get maternity allowance and will until the end of march 2013, I worked self employed as a childminder for 30 hrs a week but when I return to work in April I will only be working 18 hours a week as I have lost some work due to taking maternity leave.
The jobcentre said they didnt know but thought he may possibly be able to get income based jobseekers and to fill the form out. I am unsure however what to put down as my working hours and income? Does anyone know any help would be much appreciated although hoping he can find a job sooner rather than later money wise and he's driving me mad at home!
Thanks
