Hope you get a less confusing answer!
We're eager to hear!
Hi Parsnips (cool username btw!!). No, not as yet. We've got the tickets and still thinking about accomodation. As you said, what to do! (we got one of those woolworths vouchers, 2 nights for the price of 1, so that confuses us even more!).
i would stop at one of the hotels the night, my daughter and i will get there for when the theme park opens, spend the day there then swim at the splash pool (supposed to be a very good pool) then stop at the hotel the night and go home the following morning,
we are gonna have a jammed packed day, the last thing we want to do is then go home that same night.
my hubby is treating us, he thinks we should have some good quality time together (she a teenager and all we do is argue at the moment) but the best bit is she dont know its planned and im gonna surprise her the night before by telling her to pack her bags.............. were off to alton towers!!0 -
Ok folks,
We stayed last night, had a great time in the Splash Landings (Cariba Creek) pool yesterday & the Theme Park today....although it was freezing today!!
Firstly I would say, if you are going to be staying at the hotel go straight there and park as its free if you are a hotel guest, otherwise you will have to pay £4 to park.
You can change your Tesco Vouchers from 8-12am at the Theme Park Ticket Kiosk in Reception at the Alton Towers Hotel. Just hand your vouchers over and they will swap them for tickets. (There is also a kiosk in the Splash Landings reception but they did not have this open.)
As a hotel guest you can have early access to the theme park from 9am. You must have your tickets as the park kiosks do not open until 10.00am. They have selected rides from 9am (yesterday & today it was, Air, Nemesiss & Blade).
You can make your way to the park via the Monorail outside Splash Landings Hotel or the Woodland Walk behind Alton Towers Hotel from 8.30am. If you take the Woodland Walk it brings you out just next to Air.
Parsnips... just a word of warning if you are trying to do it all in 1 day, the pool is only open from 10am - 6pm and the park is open until 5pm, just so you know really and don't turn up at the pool at 6pm and get dissapointed.
I would leave the pool or the park until the following day if you have some time the next day.
If you need any info on food prices etc...just give me a shout
Hope all that helps! :rotfl:0 -
costcutter you are a star, the information on the pool was really helpful, as i was going to do it all in one day, glad you said that.
i hope you had a brilliant stay,
did you eat in the restaurant at the hotel as i hear they are expensive?0 -

Thanks we had a great time, the hotel are fab really they have got just about everything you need from babies & tots to adults.
They have emergency supplies in the little shops in each hotel and on each floor they have a 'family room' that everyone can use it has fridge, washing machine & dryer, steriliser & bottle warmer, which is handy when you have little one!
We did eat at the restaurants on the Thursday. This is just a run down of the places to eat:
The Seacret Garden (in Alton Towers hotel) is more al la carte & quite expensive, you can get bar food in the bar next to this restaurant but again it was a bit pricey & the choice wasn't that good.
We ate at Flammbo's in the Splash Landings:
For lunch they had a menu: (These prices are approx can't remember exactly), Burger £8, Pizza £7.50, Wraps £5 (I had chilli chicken one), Pasta & Meatballs £8. They had side orders for about £2 ish.
The portions were quite big so maybe you share a pizza & side? The Burger was massive.
The evening menu was a 'all you can eat buffet' for £18.95 each. £4.95 (4-11yrs) don't really think it was worth £18.95 if you don't eat a lot, but the food was nice.
You could get lighter meals in Ma Garritas the bar above Flambbo's in the evening it was similar to the lunch menu.
Breakfast was a buffet in Flambbo's- this was very good.
You can also get basic food at the pool bar, hot dogs & fries, sandwiches but I don't know the prices.
There were loads of places to eat in the park at normal McD's, KFC, Pizza Hut prices.
Hope all that ramble helps!!

They provide hairdryers, should be in the desk/dressing table drawer.
They provide plenty of towels & you can hire pool towels for £1 at the pool.
They leave a full size bottle of shampoo, a little Imperial Leather bubble bath & foam burst for you to take (it actually says 'pop us in your bag & take us home)
Rooms have tea & coffee making facilities.

do you mean they have towels already in the room for us to use, can you take the towels to the pool instead of hiring one?0 -
The towels they provide in the room are only meant for use in the room, I don't think you are supposed to use them for the pool (although I don't know if anyone would stop you or take any notice as long as you took them back to the room)
The towels you can hire at the pool are different, they are blue & cost £1 each to hire.
