Cat D Stolen Cars - A risk to buy? And Where from?
Hi guys
I am soon to be in the market for a new car.
I have just come across a car on ebay (I dont think I would ever buy a car from ebay but just browsing) that says its Cat D recovered. I looked into this to discover it is where cars are maybe stolen and the insurance company pays out then recovers the car and sells it.
I think I am right in saying Cat D is the lowest in terms of the car being in bad condition (meaning its in good condition !)
Does anyone have any experience in buying these types of cars, and if so could they advise if it is a risk, and is it worth it for the money you will save?
Also, where do the insurance companies sell these cars - what third parties?
Thanks
S

I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

Not a problem except the residual will lower than an identical car that is not on the register, so only worth buying if you are keeping for a fair few years.0

Car auctions.
If you are worried about buying a car of ebay then a car auction would definitely not suit you.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

As long as you know how to inspect the car to see what damage has actually been done to it. And if its been repaired properly.
If not then dont bother. It maybe a bargain or it maybe a deathtrap.
And just because it has an MOT doesnt mean its safe.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
