if you are not interested in looking at cheaper computers (which are suiteable for your usage such as the ones suggested above) then hopefully the information below might help
interestingly from what i can see the only 2.7ghz intel cpu which uses the socket 1155 configuration appears to be the G630,
if that is the case something like this seems to be a better deal for you, or at least might be a guide as to how much the system should cost

includes the same g630 cpu, 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive and a 19 inch monitor for £350 delivered.
of course if you can provide us with a full spec list of parts he is offering we would be able to tell you if its a decent deal or not, but just on current information you would be paying ~£150 for his personal service, which is still £100 more than even adding on the 3 years parts and labour warrenty from dinoDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Loulou41 I think the general advice is that you could get your old one fixed for much cheaper, or buy a ready built one off the internet for much cheaper, £500 sounds like a lot of money for what he's offering.0

not much in it if you use the Dell 10% voucher code, and 11.11% topcashback on top.
It's not clear what's wrong with the existing one, apart from it doesn't switch off, -- does it switch on, and boot?
Shows as 5.05% Cashback for me, so quite a bit in it. But the DELL does has a Wireless card, for the Technophobes.0 -
Thanks for all your good advice. The old one does not boot up at all, it is completely dead.0

It could be a failed hard drive that stops it from booting up. Take it out and see what happens, for some reason a machine will boot wihtout a part but not even start loading up with a faulty one.
Of course you won't boot very far without a hard drive but a 500gb will set you back £30 not a few hundred for a new machine.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

could not copy and paste the specs but here are what I understand I will be getting
CPU intel 1155 G630 2.7 ghz
The ME-250 Bis a new micro atx case
multi media keyboard & mouse
AOC 21.5" LED screen
Toshiba 500gb sata hard drive
I quite like the link you gave me and after adding a new LG Led& internal wireless connection, it came to £429, not sure how to check whether it is wireless enabled as I do not want to use a dongle. Also I prefer to have at least 6 USB ports, some of computer come with 4 usb 2.0 and 2 usb 3.0. Will the usb 3.0 ports support the usb 2.0. Hope it makes sense, not very techie. I am also interested with Dell Inspiron, I reckon I can get it for less than £450 with cashback. Pl can somebody check what specs I should be added to customize? The other option is to just buy a tower as my old dell flat screen 17 ins is still functional but I thought I would treat myself with a new LED. Is LED better than LCD? Also will the old dell monitor compatible with the new tower, my friend told me any monitor will work with a new tower. Thanks
