I was with talktalk to earlier this year, then got rid of my landline. Using a 3g dongle was ok til I needed to work from home. Thought my only option for free line activation would be talktalk but now Tesco will reactivate or give u a new line for free.
This new for them and I only spotted it when I was looking at Martin's cheap broadband article. You can sign up for 12 months or 30 day rolling contract.

Subject to you taking broadband, and is only available in unbundled areas. Plus £40 fee if you want rolling contract.0

If you're with Orange, I've managed to wangle a better offer than that by asking them whether they'd like me to go elsewhere for my phone or not.
It depends how hard a bargain you're willing to drive with companies.

I was initially looking for a rolling contract as I live in a rented house and with work and stuff I really don't know where I'll be in 12 months. I went with Tesco because there is no charge for moving house whereas talktalk charge you sixty quid and tie you into another contract. Its 16.25 for unlimited broadband which is the Max I would pay.0
