Acknowledgments of application forms

Warning: slight rant ahead.
I know there's been a lot of discussion on here about not getting any acknowledgement of job applications so I thought I'd add my two pence worth.
After being promised by a friend on the inside that I had a good chance of getting what can only be described as my dream job in my dream place, and despite matching their essential requirements exactly, I was never even offered an interview. I emailed their recruitment department to ask, considering my skills and qualifications, why this was. I never expected a reply but today I was pleasantly surprised.
I was told that I never fully explained my knowledge on one of their essential requirements, which is fair enough but frankly, after writing what I had, it should have been blindingly obvious that I understood it perfectly well.
The other thing was that there were a few spelling and grammatical mistakes in my form. Which I absolutely do not accept. Bearing in mind that it was an electronic form that I filled in using Word, and not only did Word check it, I checked it myself and I got my mother and sister to check it also. Now I pride myself on my English skills and there is not a hope in hell's chance I would screw up on something so simple as spelling when it came to applying for my dream job. It makes me wonder if they're just using that as an excuse.
I also wonder if anyone else has experienced the same. Anyway, I'm just venting. And seething, to be honest. I'm just getting so fed up of not getting anywhere in my job search.

Maybe ask for a copy to be sent back to you and say you want to learn from your mistakes and then see what they were.Warning: slight rant ahead.

Well i still have it saved so i went back over it with a fine tooth comb and found sod all wrong. Like you said, it's easy to say. I emailed her back thanking her for her reply, I suppose she didn't have to, but I told her I didn't accept the reasons.0 -
Don't put yourself on her radar for the wrong reasons. There could be other oppertunities in the future and guess where your application will end if she has a long memory.
After hearing what my friend had to say about them I have no intention of applying to them again. Besides which chances of me getting into that industry any time soon seem a long way off. I need to do some volunteering first I think.0 -

Museum/gallery work. Been told by so many people working in that sector that voluntary is the way to go. If i'm still unemployed by the beginning of September I have something lined up with a local museum once the curator gets back from holiday so we shall see where that leads.0 -

Your unlikley to be in my area however the local authority has loads of museum jobs on their website, curators, archivers, conservators dada dada.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0
