Not really. The word "hoover" has long been accepted as a synonym for "vacuum cleaner". Only the most anal pedant now objects to that usage.

Apt choice of word in this thread :rotfl:
    Kudos if it was deliberate
Extra Kudos if it was accidental - the accidental ones are the best!

  • I admit I have never done a study of bog rolls. If I did I would first dismiss the ones that my finger went through. Next I might dismiss the ones that did not last long .....and what was the question again?

Never really considered quality. What have I missed?
It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.
  • What have I missed?

Possibly one of the most important qualities required for bog paper.
    Absorbency.

If you are old enough, I'm sure you will remember the "greaseproof paper" type of loo roll that was widely available in the 70's and early 80's

Very handy if you ran out of tracing paper, but totally useless for wiping your ar5e.

Well, actually, they were originally sold by Kleenex under the name Kleenex Velvet; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu-R3OvpGJo

When there was a business jig around in the mid nineties, they traded with SCA and they got the right to use the name Kleenex Velvet. But they, fairly reasonably, dropped the Kleenex bit pretty sharpish.

So there was 15 years of it being Kleenex Velvet first. And the number of people that still refer to Opal Fruits or Marathons shows how long brand names stick in the head.

i have never ever noticed the missing "kleenex" part - even had to google it and indeed - it just says "velvet"

    oh no - i am a sheeple :o

Can't go wrong with tesco own brand

Tesco own brand pill and shred if you use it to blow your nose with. I like the ordinary Andrex, no quilts, no puppies, no aloe vera just vanilla rear end wipe stuff.
