Now don't get jobseekers, can i still get training?

Hi all, i hope someone will be able to advise me.
I was made redundant from my part time job just under a month ago. I immediately started looking for other work and signed on at the job centre to help. I was told i would be able to get contributions based jobseekers allowance. I also got myself straight onto a computer course (ECDL Level 1).
Then the other day i received a letter telling me that i am not entitled to jobseekers allowance. Turns out the years they use to decide on your contributions were the years i was on maternity leave and working part time. I'm gutted and disappointed and feel really let down by the system! I had worked full time, paying full NI & PAYE for 12 years before having my children!
Now i am worried that not only am i not allowed to complete the second part of my computer course (ECDL Level 2), but also that i will have to pay for the level 1 i have just done.
I thought i was doing the right thing getting straight into training and not wasting time, but if i don't get the training free because of my lack of contributions and if i now owe money for what i have just done i don't know what i will do!! I feel like crying!
Needless to say i can't afford to pay for this course as i've just lost my job!
Does anyone know whether i will still get training free, even though i am not entitled to jobseekers allowance?

how much did part one cost?as for NI it is all down to relevant yearsr i`m afraid, and they wouldnt have told you that you would get jsa cb until they had assessed your claim
do you have a working partner?0 -
Part one is under £100. Maybe even £50. I can't remember.
Yeah, i totally get that they wouldn't maybe have confirmed i was definitely getting the allowance, but they never even mentioned a chance that i wouldn't. There was no "if you get it" it was definitely more positive in language than that, otherwise this wouldn't have been such a shock!
My husband works, but his income is too high to claim for anything. This is great obviously. He has worked very hard to get where he is today. It just means that we are one of those people who and just above the threshold for help in any way.Sarah.
