She looked at me as if I was mad and had crawled from under a rock, put the pizza back and replied that she'd let me try it first and walked off.
Just been to Waitrose and got 2 x 2 sweetcorn which were on BOGOF at £1.99 each. Had been reduced to 25p each and because the reduction still comes off at the till they paid me £1.49 to take them away.
They also had a load of non-food bbq items reduced eg Big K firelighters from £2.99 to 59p. Melamine plates were 49p each.0 -
No luck for me at w., i went on monday and got very little and only reduced by 20%.
Used to be very good, pity0 -

Love it when that happens. I used to do all our shopping in Waitrose and friends thought I was mad. Now I also go to our new Sainsbobs at reductions time. I often bump into the same people doing both. Don't bother with T's anymore as there is no need. Have 4 nectar cards that I use in rotation to maximise rewards and just recieved a Waitrose card and a £5 off my next shop0 -
The mywaitrose card gets you 1p off (I kid you not) and the occasional voucher.0

Shan't get to excited then. Since Sainsbobs opened in march I've had vouchers and a discount card and now the my waitrose card so with a new Aldi opening soon I expect a few extra incentives, heres hoping.0 -
I have a card and don't bother using it. They can collate a lot of very valuable marketing data from that card, I would expect o get something in exchange (like S's and T's do).
The other thing that bother me is that only people who use their credit card can use the self-scanning till. Although queues are never as long as in other supermarkets.
I'm getting envious here, I shall write a letter of complaint to my local W's because their reductions are not as good as they should be... Do they expect me to pay full price?0 -
My local Waitrose doesn't even have self-scanning. Even if it did I wouldn't use it as I feel it threatens jobs.0

the same arguments were used when the first industrial machines were introduced, and computers, robots, probably also when direct dialling replaced switchboard operators (and without mentioning shopping online v. local stores that many people here prefer
).
I like using self-serve at supermarkets, petrol stations etc rather then deal with the poor customer service offered in many cases. Waitrose are OK, but most other supermarkets I go to are not great.
And I wouldn't mind talking to people, if it wasn't that in most cases you have to pay for the privilege of waiting for age to speak to someone who couldn't care less anyway.0 -

Waitrose staff are unfailingly polite and have great product knowledge and customer service. However, the big difference between Waitrose and other stores is that unlike stores which call their staff colleagues, Waitrose staff really are partners and all share in the profits.0
