I know it's supposed to be an urban myth but this actually happened to me in the queue at Lidl when woman two in front of me answered her phone and said " I can't talk now I'm in Sainsbury's".The whole queue bust up laughing.

@esp at Edwardia. What if I go to Farmison and Natoora and other good quality shops to escape the Supermarkets with escalating and variable costs? I am very pleased my Independent Shops thread there has been given a Sticky by the powers that be.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Sadly the supermarkets are still two steps ahead, for example 'bogof' bargains are no longer loss leaders on may items but are actually the correct price which is charged for about 2 weeks in every four with the 'standard' price charged for the other 2 weeks purely to make shoppers think they are getting a bargain.I think....0

Interesting that the over 65's are the lowest users of coupons, and youngsters use them most.
When I were a younger lad, it would have been "OAP's" hunting out a bargain to "eke out meagre pensions" who would have been the biggest users.
Nowadays the over 65's are so well off that they can afford to be careless with money, like the yoof used to be. Either that or .... they are wise enough not to be taken in by the marketing gimmickery of coupon issuers. Coupons are issued to get you to buy things you otherwise wouldn't buy (i.e. spend extra money on them), or else what is the point of them?
PS - I do use coupons !0 -
I think there was a "stigma" using coupons a while back and maybe still is for some.
But thanks to forums like MSE, savvy shoppers can save many, many hundreds of £'s.
I was a little nervous last year when I started "couponing", but now it's seems natural.
£5 and £10 notes etc are only printed pieces of paper with a monetary value ........................ exactly the same as printed coupons.

In my experience, there is a definite stigma to shopping in certain shops.
My manager is positively petrified of Lidl and Aldi - she refuses to shop there despite the fact that she could have her blueberries etc. for 69p (not £2 from M&S).
Another colleague forgot her umbrella, ducked into Aldi for shelter and was so upset by the layout and lack of brands that she left and got soaked rather than stay0 -
You get a better class of blueberries in Waitrose.
They are university graduates and have been on a gap year, maturing under Tuscan skies.
The blueberries in Lidl are positively common,
they were grown under sun lamps and appeared as extras in TOWIE.0 -
I'm more than happy to boast about my bargains (2 x 15p raspberries in Asda last night, 15p herb salad, splashed out 33p each on baby corn and massive blackberries
). I consider Aldi my main shop. Happy to pop into Lidl for their bargains but don't really like it (I have something against people buying a 4 pack of extra strong lager at 10am and starting on the first while in the queue - has happened more than once ).
I DO have an issue with Iceland and Farmfoods though. Not because they are associated with 'cheap' but because I associate them with junk food. And tracksuited slobs buying it. I am a snob.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
