spotlights in kitchen

  • Hi nope not in Scotland :)

I've been advised by my builder to have 2 rows of 4 as I have high ceilings they need more than usual to get a good amount of light

that'd be roughly 1.2m apart from each other, with rows approx 600mm apart, but as southcoastrgi says I can stagger them

I feel like I'm bombarding this forum, but I think I'm finally getting somewhere with my kitchen, it'll be nice when the electrics are in and it's all plastered!

    Thanks all x
  • You may wish to ensure there is lighting directly above your worktops. Before I had my kitchen refurbished, the spotlights were positioned slightly behind. In winter, prepping food and washing up in my own shadow was infuriating!
  • hi, do you mean say if my worktop is 620mm wide, then to make sure the lights are a max of 600mm from the wall?

Don't go too close to the wall though as then you get the wall units casting shadows

No, I was just pointing something out you may not have thought of (which it appears the previous occupant of my house may not have thought of!). Positioning will depend on ceiling height, your height and the location of any wall units. Probably best to talk it over with your electrician.

Under cabinet lighting may also be something worth thinking about.

Check out Haler LEDs not the cheapest but very good. We put over 30 in the new build last year.
